Draft Typikon, theoretical: February 2nd, Feast of Meeting.

Here I continue a series of posts which, in aggregate total, will add up to a draft translation of Fr Konstantinos Papagiannis' Systema Typikou ton ieron akolouthion tou olou eniaftou [System of the Typikon of the sacred services of the whole year], 2006, by the publishing arm of the Church of Greece, Apostoliki Diakonia. NOTE: this is not in any way an "official" translation, nor does it carry any ecclesiastical authority (at least in the English language presented here).  Indeed, in many ways it is only a step toward the eventual publication of a theoretical typikon of our Orthodox services.  This project is under way and will be published by months, in the near future. In this post, and those which follow, I present the same introduction in order to forestall any possibility of misunderstanding.  Those who resort to my work should treat it as educational in nature.  In the end, the liturgical directions given by each Orthodox jurisdiction (through its published directives, etc.) constitute the proper ecclesiastical order to be followed. Unfortunately, I have not yet figured out how unicode Greek polytonic can be displayed through Wordpress.  Once that capability is in place, there will be improvements!
